Jeep to Retire Wagoneer Nameplate, Rebrand Entire SUV Line as Grand Wagoneer in 2026

After only a few years back on the market, the Jeep Wagoneer nameplate is being retired once again. According to dealer sources and reports from Mopar Insiders, Jeep plans to discontinue the Wagoneer badge after the 2025 model year and rebrand the entire lineup under the Grand Wagoneer name beginning in 2026.

The decision marks a strategic shift for Jeep as it looks to simplify its premium SUV offerings and eliminate consumer confusion between the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. When the modern Wagoneer duo debuted in 2021, the brand positioned the standard Wagoneer as a near-luxury model and the Grand Wagoneer as the fully loaded flagship. But with both vehicles sharing similar styling and features, buyers often gravitated toward the pricier option or waited for discounts on the base model.

“The move is about clarity and cohesion,” one dealer source said, adding that Jeep wants to streamline its image around a single premium identity rather than two overlapping badges.

The newly unified 2026 Grand Wagoneer will reportedly receive refreshed styling, including redesigned LED headlights, an updated seven-slot grille, and a new full-width rear lightbar. Under the hood, it will continue to feature the 3.0-liter twin-turbo Hurricane inline-six, with higher trims offering more power. Jeep is also reorganizing trim levels, replacing the Series I, II, and III names with Summit and Limited variants to align with its broader SUV lineup.

The biggest leap forward, however, comes with electrification. The upcoming Grand Wagoneer 4xe plug-in hybrid is expected to combine a 92-kWh battery with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 acting as a range-extending generator. Jeep claims it will deliver 660 miles of range, 330 horsepower, and 615 lb-ft of torque—all while maintaining the model’s off-road capability.

By consolidating the lineup, Jeep hopes the Grand Wagoneer will stand as a singular, unmistakable flagship—one that blends luxury, heritage, and advanced technology for the brand’s next era.
