The 1:1 wooden Ford GT model is being offered through Bring a Trailer and represents a complete, life-size interpretation of Ford’s modern supercar, rendered almost entirely in wood. The project was created by Belgian artist and furniture designer Olivier De Schrijver, who is known for blending functional design with automotive themes. De Schrijver previously built a smaller wooden model inspired by the Ford GT40, which also sold at auction, further cementing interest in his work.
This full-size display features varnished wooden body panels shaped to mirror the Ford GT’s dramatic design. The level of detail is extensive, with opening doors and carefully crafted elements including headlights, taillights, side mirrors, vents, louvers, exhaust outlets, and acrylic windows. The result is a strikingly realistic silhouette, despite the unconventional material choice.
Attention to detail continues at the wheels, where wooden rims, brake rotors, and tires are mounted on steel supports with rotating hubs. The tires even feature carved tread patterns, adding to the visual authenticity. Structural integrity is provided by steel axles attached to wooden beams, forming a solid internal framework.
Inside, the craftsmanship becomes even more apparent. The cabin includes wooden bucket seats, dashboard, center console, door panels, steering wheel, shifter, gauges, pedals, and speakers. Black carpeting covers the floor, standing out as one of the few non-wood materials used. The steering wheel is mechanically linked to the front wheels, allowing the model to be steered despite being a static display.
