Ford Mustang Mach-E returns to Consumer Reports’ Best EVs list for 2025, praised for range, handling, and tech despite ride concerns.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E has secured a familiar place on Consumer Reports’ Best EVs of 2025 list, marking another year of recognition for the electric crossover. Despite no full mid-cycle refresh, Ford’s 2025 model received key updates that helped it edge out rivals like the Chevrolet Blazer EV and maintain its spot among top-rated two-row electric crossovers.
Consumer Reports awarded the Mach-E an overall score of 68, placing it in a tie with the Nissan Ariya. Both trailed behind the Tesla Model Y, which scored 73. Even so, the publication praised the Mach-E for delivering a balance of range, practicality, and driving enjoyment that continues to appeal to EV buyers.
In road testing, the extended-range Mach-E delivered 299 miles of real-world driving, reinforcing its reputation as a capable long-distance electric crossover. Testers described the EV as “quick and quiet, with taut and agile handling,” noting that it remains one of the more engaging options to drive in its class. The crossover also earned points for its useful cargo room and Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free driver assistance system. Home charging speeds were also highlighted as competitive.
However, Consumer Reports flagged some drawbacks that have carried over from prior years. Chief among them is the large, vertically oriented infotainment screen, which the group said comes with a “steep learning curve.” Because many controls are embedded within the touchscreen, everyday adjustments can be less intuitive compared to competitors with more physical switches. Additionally, testers noted the ride can feel “jittery and unsettled” on rough pavement, a trait that may affect comfort on longer journeys.
Even with those critiques, the Mustang Mach-E continues to deliver a strong combination of performance, range, and technology—enough to keep it among Consumer Reports’ recommended EVs for 2025.
