The very first production Bugatti Mistral, chassis number 001, has reemerged in stunning form after receiving a full satin paint protection film treatment. Originally finished in a deep gloss black, the car was recently refinished by Topaz Detailing, completely altering its visual character while preserving its launch specification.
Unveiled at Pebble Beach in 2022, this particular Mistral was the debut model that introduced Bugatti’s final chapter for the W16 engine era. With yellow brake calipers and a contrasting two-tone interior in yellow and dark brown, it exemplified the balance between modern elegance and mechanical ferocity that defines the brand’s most exclusive creations.
The transformation to a satin finish gives the Mistral an understated yet purposeful appearance, diffusing reflections and highlighting the car’s sculpted body lines. Subtle design elements such as the horseshoe grille, aerodynamic rear deck, and integrated air intakes stand out even more against the muted texture of the satin PPF, which also offers additional protection against road wear and UV damage.
Beyond its visual appeal, the Mistral carries enormous significance for Bugatti. It is the first and only open-top variant derived from the Chiron platform and the last roadgoing model to house the brand’s legendary quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine. With a claimed top speed of 282 mph, it also holds the title of the world’s fastest production convertible—a fitting finale for one of the most celebrated powertrains in automotive history.
With just 99 units planned for production, each priced in the multi-million-dollar range, the Mistral symbolizes both the end of an era and a glimpse into Bugatti’s future. Chassis 001, now cloaked in satin perfection, sets a new visual standard for one of the most exclusive cars ever built.
