Bentley has revealed a new off-road-focused concept version of the Bentayga, signaling the brand may expand its luxury SUV lineup if market interest proves strong. The vehicle, called the X Concept, debuted at the FAT Ice Race in Zell am See and was developed to gauge demand for a more rugged interpretation of the Bentayga.
The concept is based on the Bentayga Speed and retains its performance-oriented foundation. Power comes from a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 650 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed transmission and all-wheel drive. The setup underscores Bentley’s intention to blend high performance with increased off-road capability.
Chassis and suspension updates are central to the concept’s identity. The SUV rides on air suspension and incorporates Bentley Dynamic Ride, the company’s 48-volt electric active anti-roll control system. Engineers also widened the track by 120 millimeters and raised the ride height by five millimeters to support improved stability and ground clearance. Wheel arches have been extended by 40 millimeters to accommodate larger off-road tires.
The vehicle sits on forged, single-piece 22-inch wheels developed specifically for the project by Brixton. The wheels are fitted with off-road tires, reinforcing the concept’s intended use beyond paved roads. Additional changes include a titanium sports exhaust system from Akrapovic, towing eyes, and a roof carrier designed for utility and adventure-oriented driving.
Bentley’s approach with the X Concept reflects a growing interest in combining luxury performance with off-road versatility. By starting with the Bentayga Speed as a base, the company is exploring how far its flagship SUV platform can evolve while maintaining the brand’s focus on refinement and power.
The concept serves primarily as a test case. Bentley plans to evaluate customer and market reaction before deciding whether to move forward with production. If demand supports the idea, the off-road-focused Bentayga could become a future addition to the lineup, offering a more rugged alternative within the luxury SUV segment.
