A hand-built Aston Martin DB3S re-creation, constructed in the 1980s by renowned Aston Martin racing specialist Bill Monk, is now being offered on Bring a Trailer. The car, inspired by the original works racer DB3S/10, combines authentic craftsmanship with a racing pedigree that spans decades of European and UK competition history.

This aluminum-bodied roadster was built around a custom chassis and the drivetrain from a 1958 DB Mark III. Power comes from a 2.9-liter DBA inline-six engine, which was comprehensively overhauled in 2016 by Chris Woodgate of Rex J. Woodgate Automotive Consultants in Northamptonshire, England. The rebuild included a balanced crankshaft, new pistons and bearings, and refreshed triple Weber carburetors. The engine is paired with a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission and a De Dion rear axle.

The car’s bodywork—crafted by Clive Smart of Shapecraft—is finished in Aston Martin Racing Green and reflects the graceful, aerodynamic lines of the original DB3S racers of the 1950s. Exterior features include faired-in headlights, a split plexiglass windscreen, leather hood straps, Monza-style fuel filler, and 16-inch wire wheels wrapped in Blockley tires.

Inside, the right-hand-drive cockpit features fixed-back green leather bucket seats, four-point Willans harnesses, and bare aluminum interior panels that underscore its competition focus. The Jaeger tachometer and Smiths speedometer maintain period accuracy, while the odometer shows 8,000 miles—about 2,000 added under current ownership.
Mechanically refurbished between 2015 and 2016 and further serviced in 2025, the DB3S re-creation has been campaigned in vintage racing events across Europe and the UK before being imported to the United States.

Now offered on dealer consignment in Huntington Station, New York, with documentation dating back to the 1990s and a clean Florida title listing it as a 1958 Aston Martin, this expertly constructed re-creation captures the spirit of one of the marque’s most legendary competition cars.
