Petersen Automotive Museum Celebrates 70 Years of Matchbox

There's a special event this Sunday.

In celebration of Matchbox's 70th anniversary, the Petersen Automotive Museum is hosting the "70 Years of Matchbox Cruise-In" this Sunday, October 29, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. PST.

The event, honoring the iconic brand from Mattel, Inc., will provide attendees with an opportunity to engage in a free cruise-in featuring a panel discussion with Matchbox designers Bryan Benedict and Julian Payne. Adding to the festivities, renowned street artist Mr. Brainwash will showcase a special feature for fans and enthusiasts.

Additional event highlights include:

  • A unique photo opportunity for attendees, who can park their cars against a life-sized Matchbox packaging backdrop.
  • Complimentary offerings for registered attendees, including coffee, bagels, parking, and a celebratory cupcake.

Following the cruise-in, participants can embark on a rally to Santa Paula, granting them access to an exclusive car collection exploration. The rally will also feature a lunch for participants. Tickets for this additional post-cruise-in event are priced at $75.

The museum invites all vehicle owners and spectators to attend the free cruise-in, encouraging car aficionados and Matchbox fans to come together and commemorate this significant milestone.

For more information or to purchase tickets for the rally, interested individuals are directed to contact the Petersen Automotive Museum.
