Gooding & Company is sending this original 1973 Porsche 911 2.4T across the auction stage at the Scottsdale Auction the weekend of January 17-18, 2020 (Lot 142). This pristine example has under 20,000 original miles and has been stored by its owner in California for 35 years. The estimated auction price of this stunning Porsche is expected to be between $180,000 to $220,000, and it is without reserve.
Powering this '73 Porsche 911 is a numbers-matching 2,341cc SOHC Flat 6-cylinder engine equipped with Bosch K-Jetronic CIS fuel injection. The car puts out 140-bhp at 5,700 rpms and is shifted via a 5-speed manual transaxle. Stopping power is provided by ventilated disc brakes on all four corners, and handling comes from the 4-wheel independent suspension with torsion bar. Both the engine and gearbox have been confirmed as matching-numbers to the car by Porsche COA.
The sale of this beauty includes the original window sticker, purchase paperwork from when it was brand new, tool kit, and books. Although the price may go for a nice chunk of change, there's no denying that somebody is happily going to take home a low-mileage and all-original '73 Porsche 911 to their garage or collection.
Porsche 911 model years from 1972-1973 featured the entry level T, the E in the midrange, and the top-of-the-line S model. All models came equipped with the new and bigger engine that is widely known as the "2.4L", although its real displacement was more 2.341 liters. It was given a healthy increase of horsepower and torque, as well as a sturdier and more capable transmission.
So, if you're in the market for a true time warp Porsche, one that shows in immaculate condition, go ahead and register to bid with Gooding & Company and keep an eye on their Scottsdale auction coming up soon on January 17-18, 2020. You can easily place a bid online here.
