It’s always amazing to find older work vehicles which are not only still running and in one piece, but also look great and run strong. That certainly is the case with this 1971 Ford F-250 Highboy, which looks so clean you have to question if it’s ever worked a day in its life. The secret is that this pickup went though a restoration in the past, really bringing back the former shine.
And shine it does, with the Maroon and Gray sprayed on in 2016 and a receipt available to prove it. All the body panels are in great condition with no signs of repairs and each remaining all metal. Chrome and stainless steel trim pieces look fantastic and likely are original to the truck.
Mostly original, the interior gives you a pretty authentic experience of driving an old Ford truck. The steering wheel, gauges, and other controls are what came installed in the factory. Even more amazingly, everything works, including all the dash lights. The seat upholstery, dash cover, and carpeting are new, which helps everything else feel fresh. While the underbody wasn’t restored, you can see it also isn’t caked with rust, so the previous two owners have cared well for this beast.
Then there’s the mechanical side of this Ford. 4-Wheel Classics, which is selling the truck, says it can provide documentation for the 390ci V8 having been rebuilt, along with other maintenance items being addressed. Clearly visible in the photos is an Edelbrock aluminum intake, which works with an Edelbrock 4bbl carb. A dual exhaust and 4-speed manual, plus four-wheel drive are also in the mix. Other mods include power steering and power brakes, so driving this truck doesn’t require as much brute force.
