1969 Impala SS Sport Coupe Packs A 427 Punch

It was the last year of the classic Impala muscle car.

Tom Mack Classics is happy to offer this beautiful 1969 Chevrolet Impala SS Sport Coupe that is crossing the online auction block with no reserve on Friday, September 27th. Only 2,455 Impala 427s were produced for the 1969 model year, and who knows how many are still on the road today. Over the past 50 years, some likely have become deteriorating lawn ornaments and others were possibly crashed beyond repair.

The year 1969 marks the last year of the full-sized Impala as car buyers were gravitating toward Chevrolet cars that were faster, smaller, and less expensive such as the Nova, Chevelle, and Camaro. Chevy brought back the Impala in the mid-1990s, but as a family sedan with four doors and lacking the old-school muscle appeal.

This 1969 Chevy Impala SS has a beautiful Garnet Red exterior with a contrasting black vinyl top. Under the hood sits a 427cui V8 topped with a four-barrel carburetor and connected to a four-speed manual transmission. Rated at a healthy 390-horsepower, the car made impressive power for its time, but it just couldn’t compete with the smaller models. Today, the rare 1969 Impala SS equipped with the 427cui is a highly sought after car, and it should have no problem engaging a bidding war with potential suitors.

Power steering helps control the car with ease, and power disc brakes help bring everything to a halt and partially hide behind Rally wheels with new red line radial rubber. The car's undercarriage is all-original and in great shape and features a Posi-Traction rear end.

Inside this full-sized muscle car is a bright red interior that matches its cheery exterior with bucket seats up front and a rear bench seat that spans the rear. In addition, the interior features a rare Rosewood steering wheel, and a rear defroster keeps things clear.

Recent upgrades to this Impala include new brakes, red line radial tires, a rebuilt shifter, new outside mirrors, and a wiper motor. The front end was aligned, and the car was completely serviced. If looking to bring this baby home for yourself, visit Tom Mack Classics and be sure to bid on this beauty.
