"If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up." - Ferris Bueller

Just about everything in Hollywood is a fake, and that includes the 1961 Ferrari 250GT California used in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Instead of abusing a rare car that is worth more than $16 million today, John Hughes commissioned three replicas from Modena Design, called the Modena GT Spyder, for use in the film. This fiberglass-bodied replica has since been added to the National Historic Vehicle Register, and one of the screen-driven hero cars will be up for auction this weekend during Monterey Car Week.

This particular Ferrar... I mean, Modena GT Spyder... is the No. 1 hero car, and it has undergone a complete restoration with just 552 miles put on the car since – and no, you can't roll back the odometer! The only noticeable differences between this car now and its movie days are the lack of Ferrari badges and the addition of front driving lights. As far as pricing goes, Mecum estimates this car could go for between $300,000 and $400,000, and the seller is even throwing in some movie memorabilia including photos, 1/24 scale die cast model, Hot Wheels cars and signed build photos. At that price, you're still going to want to choose your parking garages carefully.

It might not have a screaming Ferrari V-12 under the hood, but this Modena GT Spyder replica is still an impressive sports car with a 564-horsepower 427 CID Stroker V-8 under the hood that helps the 2,292-pound car accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. This will be a fun auction lot to watch.
