Imagine if you could take your favorite big screen movie car, and really make it your own. Putting your signature on cult classic vehicles won’t go down well with everyone, but it’ll put a smile on your face, right? You could turn the General Lee into a monster truck, Herbie into a dragster, or how about the Eleanor Mustang as a convertible? The latter dream is actually a reality with the Volo Auto Museum offering just that.
Currently for sale is Elenor as you’ve never seen the car before! Presented in a Candy Orange paint finish and missing its roof, this Mustang delivers on movie nostalgia and alfresco motoring. It’s not going to be to everyone’s tastes, but if you love custom Mustangs, this will tick the boxes for you.
The Eleanor bodywork and Shelby grille hides a custom G Machine chassis by Schwartz Performance said to be worth $25,000. Rack and pinion steering, coil over adjustable suspension, and tubular control arms all serve to help this pony handle. A custom side-exit exhaust system and fuel tank ensure that they are fit for purpose.
Under the hood is a rebuilt 302 cubic inch V8 with an Edelbrock carburetor, complete with body matching paintwork to impress when on display. It generates some 300-horsepower to ensure that this car is about more than just its appearance. We’re betting that when combined with the custom exhaust, this Mustang roars.
The interior features a design that sticks largely to what you’d expect to find in a 1967 Mustang, but has been completely restored. Modern amenities such as air conditioning, power steering, and power brakes make living with this 1960s muscle car a little more pleasant. Of course, the big draw of this Eleanor Mustang is the roof that can be raised and lowered electrically. Grab your best pair of sunglasses be cause plenty of people will be looking your way with the top down.
$77,998 buys you this alternate reality Eleanor Mustang, and plenty of attention.
