Race Retro Primed For Spectacular 2019 Event

Race Retro 2019 will be packed full of legendary cars, exhibits, and star drivers. It's the number 1 motorsport show in Europe

If you love legendary racing cars, then you won’t want to miss Race Retro on February 22-24, 2019. To be hosted at Stoneleigh Park in the UK, the annual event is touted as ‘Europes #1 historic motorsport show’ and with good reason!

Some of the most iconic motorsport machines will be on display and in action during the event, with plenty of opportunity for visitors to get up close and personal with their four-wheeled heroes. Hall 3 is a particular highlight with a restored 1955 Le Mans winning Jaguar D-Type chassis, Nelson Piquet’s Williams FW11, and a Porsche 917/10 driven by Jody Scheckter, to name but a few star cars.

As impressive as the cars on display are, you’ll be able to see, hear, and even smell a host of historic rally cars in action at Race Retro’s Live Rally Stage. Over 120 Group A, B, and C cars will be unleashed for the crowds to spectate these amazing machines being driven in anger once again. Better still, guests can pay £25 to experience a passenger ride at the hands of an experienced rally driver!

If you fancy getting behind the wheel yourself, there is a selection of Group A and B cars available to drive from £47. Ever wanted to experience a 1990 Lancia Delta Integrale that's complete with Martini livery? Or how about a beautiful 1968 Jaguar E-Type? The Arrive and Drive Classic Car Experience, run by Hero Events, is for you.

In addition to the historic machines attending the show, some of motorsport’s superstar drivers will also make an appearance. A trio of legendary pilots have been announced with each taking part in live Q&A sessions as well as autograph signings. You’ll have the chance to meet Formula 1 ace, and five-time Grand Prix winner, John Watson, Touring and Sports Car legend John Fitzpatrick, and Finnish rally star Rauno Aaltonen.

Amongst all this excitement, Race Retro will also be celebrating the turbocharged era of Formula 1. The display centralizes around the turbocharged 1400-horsepower Renault RS10 F1 engine that gained its first win in the sport four decades ago. Acting Show Director, Lee Masters says, "We are thrilled to be able to celebrate it at this year’s Race Retro 40 years on from that first win in Formula 1. We can promise visitors a very special display in celebration."

There will also be many exhibitors at the event, ranging from manufacturers of competition cars to art and book sellers. If you’re looking to join a club, get advice, or buy components, this diverse selection of expertise is for you. The Trader Village will also be able to fashion you with everything from the odd nut or bolt to beautiful vintage posters for the workshop.

If you’ve become inspired by some of the amazing machines on display, and fancy taking one home yourself, then stop by the auction hosted in the Warwick Complex. Silverstone Auctions is running a one-day event that’s offering up some highly collectable classics.

Motoring journalist Harry Metcalfe’s latest video details some of the cars coming up at this auction. The bar is immediately set high with a concourse-winning 1984 Porsche 356C, a car that sports plenty of stickers from its attendance at various events. Its second owner decided he wanted to take the car rallying, so this Porsche features a series of upgrades that helped it obtain class victories. Place the winning bid at this weekend’s Race Retro and it’ll be coming home with you.

Sticking with the rallying theme, a 1993 Subaru Impreza once used by famed engineering firm Prodrive for reconnaissance on rally stages is up for grabs. Their rally team were actually using the larger Legacy at the time, but this car would scout ahead and bring back key information to the team. Fully prepared for rally stages and fresh from an engine rebuild, this car would make for the perfect entrant at your next event.

One of Harry’s favourite cars at the auction is a Lotus Elan — or two to be precise. He was really impressed by their condition, but does point out some amusing factory imperfections that they still carry. Harry has actually owned an Elan since the 1990s, so his blessing is a good one to have.

The Bonkers Vauxhall Lotus Carlton is an a rare thing to see at auction, but there are two up for auction at Race Retro! These 1990s super saloons caused such a ruckus with a top speed of over 176mph, that the British Government attempted to ban the car at one point. Despite one being high mileage, this Lotus-tuned cars look immaculate.

Other highlights include a Porsche 356A Speedster, 1956 BMW 502 V8, 1972 Ford Escort MK1 RS1600 Rally Car, and a beautiful Jenson Interceptor Convertible. It’s a great opportunity to bag a classic you can be proud of.

There’s plenty see and do at Race Retro 2019, making it the perfect family day out. Running from February 22-24, 2019, tickets are on sale now.
