Rock An LS1-Powered Toyota FJ45

This Land Cruiser pickup has plenty of torque for pulling through the mud.

There’s much to love about a truck like this 1965 Toyota FJ45 Land Cruiser. It takes the rugged off-road capabilities of the FJ40 and combines it with the extra utility of a small pickup truck, making for a best-of-both-worlds scenario. And while this one looks to be restored just so, the reality is this rig is a fire-breathing restomod with a General Motors LS1 small-block V8 shoehorned under the hood. Such a fine, unique vehicle is available to purchase through Art & Speed Classic Car Gallery.

With that 5.7-liter V8 onboard, this Toyota FJ45 is far more powerful than when it first rolled off the assembly line. You enjoy excellent control for rock crawling, thanks to the front/rear ARB differential lockers, Warn locking hubs, 5-speed manual transmission, and 37-inch Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tires. If you do get stuck or need to help out those less fortunate, a Warn 9,000-pound winch is mounted to the Hanson front bumper. This truck has many other modifications, such as the spring-over suspension conversion and a bed-mounted spare tire. Instead of the factory in-cab gas tank, this truck now has a 23-gallon fuel cell mounted in the rear.

Quite a few additional changes are evident in the cab. Among them is an aftermarket steering wheel, modern Recaro seats with big side bolsters as well as leather and cloth upholstery, plus an updated sound system with a CD changer. Rhino Lining on the floor and ceiling make it easy to keep the cab clean, plus it looks appropriately rugged. There’s even a Tuffy locking center console to stash your valuables while you’re playing in the great outdoors.

A beautiful exterior presentation is made using Audi TT Silver finish, giving a fresh take on this beloved classic. Both the bed and undercarriage have Rhino Lining to protect from damage and resulting corrosion.

Art & Speed Classic Car Gallery has an amazing selection of vehicles, but this is one of the coolest and most unique to pass through in some time. If you want to make this Toyota FJ45 restomod yours, contact the company to work out a deal.
