We think the big cat's first SVO skunkworks machine makes for the ideal collector car to start off your 2019

Any vehicle boasting ancestry from Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations is worthy of merit, but this 2015 Jaguar SVO Project 7 is more significant than most. This is the first special model to be offered by the tuning powerhouse – making it a genesis vehicle for collectors to scrabble over.

Launched to critical acclaim from enthusiasts and hard-nosed motoring press alike, the Project 7 was inspired by Jaguar’s proud racing heritage. The name is derived from the British marque’s seven outright victories at the Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race between 1951 and 1990, three of which were achieved by the iconic 1950s D-type.

The brief given to Jaguar designers for the Project 7 was simple; conceive a present-day D-type. The original D-type was exclusive in every way, and the contemporary successor was no different – limited to a production run of just 250 examples, of which sold out within 48 hours of the vehicle’s launch at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

As such, examples of these special beasts rarely appear on the market. A rare opportunity to acquire a slice of Jaguar history, this healthy specimen has covered only 350 dry summer miles by the hand of the vehicle’s original owner. Naturally, price is only available on application.

This Project 7 offers further exclusivity, as one of the handful that were uniquely specified by SVO Bespoke. This programme allowed the buyer to personalize their car – albeit it at significant cost and with a significant delay in supply.

The unique features on this car include a yellow finish to the intake snout, lower section of rear spoiler, sill entry illumination shields light in yellow, yellow brake callipers and tailored upholstery featuring yellow cross stitching and paddle shifts.

Additional optional extras include the P7 helmet in body colour and full harnesses, along with the standard lap belts and a Tracker security system. The car has been serviced annually despite minimal use and it comes with all books, presentation box, and service and ownership documentation.
