Vintage Video Tour Of The CCCA Grand Classic From 1961

A refreshingly vintage video full of classic cars.

In 1961, the Classic Car Club of America (CCCA) met up for their Grand Classic. This vintage video shows the cars chugging along on a warm day surrounded by likeminded people. A refreshing video that shows off simpler times with simpler cars. Everyone is dressed in summer or spring attire and looks to be enjoying everyone's company along with the abundance of fine machinery. Families and couples alike flock around to check out the rolling classics, and it appears that the Grand Classic couldn't have better weather for a gathering.

The CCCA was founded in 1952, and it is a world-wide club for owners and enthusiasts of classic cars alike. Back in the 1920s and '30s, owners of Packards, Cadillacs, and other makes and models were not eligible to participate in car meets since their cars were considered too modern.

In March of 1952, the CCCA was invited to exhibit at the International Motor Sport Show in New York City. At the time, the club had only 20 members, but they set up a recruiting table on a balcony next to a 1931 Cadillac V16 All Weather Phaeton. Here, 75 more classic car enthusiasts signed up, and by the end of the year the club had 212 members. Today, that number sits at about 3,500 members worldwide. All about the vintage automobiles and pleasure of the sport, the CCCA is dedicated to enjoying these fine cars along with the collection and preservation.

The club focuses on vehicles produced from 1915 to 1948. Especially a classic car that was top dollar when it was brand new and limited. Other factors play in such as the engine displacement, luxury accessories, and custom coachwork among other things. If interested in joining the CCCA, there are a list of recognized classics on the CCCA website.
