1970 Dodge Challenger R/T In Go Mango Is A Muscle Car Icon

Is there anything sweeter than an orange Mopar muscle car?

While the upcoming Rand Luxury Motorcar Auction is focused on some extraordinarily rare supercars (including 16 Ferraris), there are still a handful of old-school, hardcore muscle cars that will be up for grabs. On this list is the 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T you see here, which will be one of just 60 classic and collector cars that will be auctioned off next month at the Nassau County Museum of Art.

Fresh off a full rotisserie restoration, this Challenger is absolutely flawless. Without any decals or stripes, the bright Go Mango paint job really pops on this car, and it is sure to stand out wherever it goes. This was the first year of production for the Dodge Challenger, and its styling is arguably the best of any subsequent model years. There's a reason Dodge mimicked the design of the '70 Challenger for the current 2008-newer LX-based Challenger.

The interior is equally nice with black vinyl bucket seats and a full center console, and everything is in excellent condition to match the exterior. This car's cabin looks brand new from the dash and the door panels down to carpet and sill plates. Whoever did this restoration put in a lot of work to get this 49-year-old classic to look like new again.

Under the hood, this Challenger R/T features the 440 Six-Pack V8 with an automatic transmission, and of the almost 77,000 Challenger built in 1970, only 793 were R/T hardtops with this car's drivetrain. This engine was rated at 390 horsepower, so it had the power to back up its muscle-car looks. And the this car was factory equipped with optional Track Pack consisting of a Dana 60 rear axle and a beefed up rear suspension for even better handling and performance.

If you want the chance to own this amazing Mopar or any of the other high-performance cars will be up for auction next month, be sure you are registered to bid for the Rand Luxury Motorcar Auction.
