This sleek Caddy is awaiting its new home
Midwest Car Exchange is offering you the chance to own this large and in charge 1961 Cadillac 62 Two-Door Coupe. Restyled and re-engineered for the 1961 model year, the 62 Series adopted styling cues found on the 1960 Eldorado Brougham. Now a shorter and more angular car, it was given a redesigned grille that slanted toward the bumper and hood lip and framed the dual headlights. The car also featured a larger front bumper, forward-slanting front roof pillars, and revised rear window treatment, among other things.
Painted in original Olympic White, this two-door hardtop Caddy features a beautiful contrasting black and white interior that appears brand new in the photos. Under the hood sits a recently tuned 390cui V8 engine with a four-barrel induction system backed by an automatic transmission and capable of 325 horsepower. With the old air suspension known for having issues in prior models, for the 1961 model year, the car was given a set of rubberized coil springs in the front and rear.
Equipped with power steering and power drum brakes, the car was easy enough to drive, but the car was large enough that parallel and garage parking were a task. Inside, the car was given 6-way seat control and an AM push-button radio provides tunes via the power antenna. On the outside the car was given whitewall radials complete with Cadillac wheel covers.
Recent service to this old-school classic includes new window motors, rebuilt generator, new voltage regulator, new hoses, rebuilt control arm bushings, new water pump, brake cylinders and new dual exhaust system.
