This stylish wagon looks more like a concept car than a family workhorse. We love it!

The automotive world is a rich tapestry of models that cover a broad range of bases. Wagons are the real workhorses of family life, but while they shine in terms of practicality, their boxy shapes are often less appealing. This 1960 Plymouth Suburban Sport listed by Showdown Auto challenges that convention, delivering an eye-catching design and plenty of load lugging capacity.

It’s certainly one of the more flamboyant wagons we’ve seen of late. This fantastic display of design freedom must have been a joy for its creators to develop. Seemingly without restraint, this Plymouth features enormous fins, heavily sculpted wings, an abundance of chrome surfaces, and a steeply raked trunk lid. It is an outrageously fantastic thing to look at. Its 14-inch steel wheels with ‘dog dish’ hubcaps are also period correct.

The interior is just as curious with the headline act being a large ovular steering wheel presented to the driver. Large bench seats appear plenty accommodating, and a huge trunk ensures that there’s no shortage of space. This classic is far more than just a pretty face.

Beneath that long hood is a 225 Ci motor that’s paired with a three-speed manual transmission. The engine bay itself is something to behold with ceramic coated headers, chromed intake manifold and valve covers. Other mild modifications include an upgraded 12 volt system along with a Mopar battery.

This Plymouth Suburban is in incredible condition thanks to an extensive body-on restoration. It sits straight and true on the Tarmac, serving as a great example of this stylistic model. The interior also received plenty of attention, with its fabric seats looking as fresh as they did back in 1960.

The car was originally priced at $30,000 but you can now drive this classic wagon home today for just $24,900.
