Rare 2011 Hennessey Venom GT Heads to Monterey Auction

One of just 13 Venom GTs built, chassis No. 03 is offered without reserve at Broad Arrow’s Monterey Jet Center sale.

A rare 2011 Hennessey Venom GT, one of only 13 examples ever built, is set to cross the auction block this July at the Broad Arrow Auctions Monterey Jet Center sale. Estimated between $350,000 and $450,000, the hypercar will be offered without reserve, giving collectors a unique opportunity to acquire a defining piece of modern performance history.

Chassis No. 03, presented in Venom Red over a black leather and Alcantara interior, is one of only two known cars specified with a supercharged LS9 V8, producing 725 horsepower. This differentiates it from the majority of Venom GTs, which were later upgraded to a twin-turbocharged 7.0-liter configuration capable of up to 1,200 horsepower.

Built around a heavily modified Lotus Exige chassis and assembled in Silverstone, England, the Venom GT was born from John Hennessey’s quest to push performance boundaries beyond what the front-engine Viper platform could achieve. The result was a hypercar weighing under 2,700 pounds, with power delivered through a six-speed Ricardo manual transaxle, carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes, and a fully independent suspension system.

This example has seen limited use, showing fewer than 2,300 kilometers (1,429 miles) since new. It underwent significant servicing in 2022, including replacement of major components such as injectors, ignition coils, sensors, and shift cables. Earlier in its life, the car reportedly sustained cosmetic damage during a test drive, resulting in a replacement of the rear diffuser, spoiler, and taillights.

Initially revealed in concept form during the early 2010s, the Venom GT eventually achieved an unofficial top speed of 270.49 mph, positioning it among the fastest road cars ever built. Its limited production, Anglo-American engineering, and record-breaking performance have since secured its status as an investment-grade collector’s car.

Broad Arrow’s offering of chassis No. 03 represents a rare chance to own one of the most ambitious and uncompromising supercars of the last two decades. See it here.
