Its lightweight construction is based on a tube-frame chassis, echoing the engineering approach of the early 1960s.
While the original 804 utilized a rare flat-eight engine, this replica is powered by a 2.0-liter air-cooled flat-six developed by The 901 Shop in Florida. The engine is paired with a Hewland five-speed manual transaxle, delivering a driving experience intended to replicate vintage Formula 1 performance. The vehicle has also been driven by a well-known figure in historic motorsports, adding to its appeal.
Modern updates are integrated carefully to maintain authenticity while improving usability. The suspension incorporates Porsche 911 torsion bars and Penske Racing shocks, while braking is handled by a four-wheel disc system. The cockpit remains purpose-built, featuring minimal instrumentation and a single-seat configuration.
