One of Six: RUF's "Mary Stuart" SCR Heads to Broad Arrow's Quail Auction

Broad Arrow Auctions will headline its Quail Auction sale on August 14, 2026 with one of the most personal RUF SCRs ever built: a 2024 example finished in a tribute livery the German manufacturer calls "Mary Stuart." Carrying a pre-sale estimate of $2,500,000 to $2,800,000, chassis 06011 is believed to be one of just six SCRs completed in this specification, and it spent its first months in America as RUF's own demonstrator car rather than sitting in a private garage.

RUF has been recognized as an independent automaker under German law since 1981, and the SCR is the clearest expression of that status. Rather than starting from a Porsche "body in white," the SCR rides on a carbon-fiber monocoque with bonded front and rear spaceframes and an integrated steel roll cage, all wrapped in aerodynamically sculpted carbon bodywork that only hints at its 911 inspiration. Behind the rear axle sits a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six making 510 horsepower at 8,270 rpm, paired exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. At roughly 2,756 pounds, the combination is good for a 3.4-second sprint to 62 mph and a 199-mph top speed, numbers that put the SCR among the sharpest analog sports cars being built today.

The "Mary Stuart" name traces back to 1973, when Porsche's factory racing department fitted a handful of works Carrera RSRs with a wraparound rear spoiler that extended the Carrera RS ducktail around the rear arches. The shape reminded onlookers of the tall ruff collar worn by Mary, Queen of Scots, and the nickname stuck after one of those cars won outright at the 1973 Targa Florio while a sister car took fourth overall and a class win at Le Mans that same year. RUF's reinterpretation of that decklid on chassis 06011 is a subtle but unmistakable nod to that racing history, integrated into the SCR's carbon bodywork rather than bolted on as an afterthought.

Finished in a deep, light-shifting Paint to Sample Ultra Violet and protected since new with full-body paint protection film and ceramic coating, this SCR pairs its motorsport-inspired tail with a cabin trimmed in black and grey Alcantara, carbon-shell Recaro bucket seats, and Sabelt harnesses. Beyond its rarity, chassis 06011 has a job history few collector cars can claim: as only the second SCR imported to the United States, it became RUF North America's official demonstrator, based out of The Concours Club in Miami and shown to American enthusiasts on track and at club events after its arrival in May 2024. It is being offered with just 176 miles on the odometer.

With production limited to a handful of cars annually and specifications as personal as "Mary Stuart," values for cars like chassis 06011 are set less by a published guide and more by what collectors are willing to pay at auctions like this one.

The sale takes place alongside Broad Arrow's broader Quail Auction lineup during Monterey Car Week, giving bidders a rare chance to buy directly from the small pool of SCRs built to date, let alone one carrying such a specific piece of Porsche racing homage.
