A beloved icon of 1960s American family motoring, the 1966 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser will cross the block this October as part of The Generous Collection—a no-reserve auction of more than 200 cars amassed by the late Alabama businessman and philanthropist Greg Rusk. Offered through Broad Arrow Auctions in partnership with Hagerty Marketplace, the sale reflects Rusk’s lifelong passion for cars and his commitment to giving back to his community.
Rusk, known for his generosity toward friends and neighbors, spent decades building a diverse car collection that ranged from classic American cruisers to European exotics. Many of the vehicles have been stored for years and are now being offered to the public for the first time. The Vista Cruiser, a standout among them, represents a time when style and practicality met on America’s highways.
Finished in Light Jade over two-tone green vinyl, this four-door wagon is powered by Oldsmobile’s 330-cubic-inch Rocket V8 paired with a Jetaway automatic transmission. The car’s most distinctive feature—a raised roofline with panoramic glass panels above the second row—gave it an airy, futuristic feel decades ahead of its time. Other period touches include quad headlights, chrome trim, and seating for up to six passengers.
While showing signs of age, including minor chrome wear and cracks in the dash, the Vista Cruiser retains its charm and originality. Offered with spare parts, floor mats, and its original radio, it embodies the nostalgia of mid-century American road travel.
