A 1993 Jaguar XJ220, one of the most exclusive supercars of its time, is drawing renewed attention as a well-preserved example with a documented ownership history and extensive recent servicing. Developed during an era of intense competition among global manufacturers, the XJ220 was Jaguar’s ambitious response to rival high-speed supercars. Its name reflected a target top speed of 220 mph, positioning it among the fastest road cars of its generation. While it ultimately fell slightly short of that mark, the model still achieved recognition as the fastest production car at the time of its release.
The origins of the XJ220 trace back to a small group of Jaguar engineers and designers who developed the concept independently, building on the company’s motorsport success, including a major endurance racing victory in the late 1980s. Their work resulted in a car that combined advanced engineering with striking design.
Only 277 units were produced, each constructed around a bonded honeycomb chassis and clothed in lightweight aluminum bodywork. The car’s low, elongated profile emphasized both aerodynamics and visual impact. Power came from a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine derived from competition technology, producing 550 metric horsepower and paired with a five-speed manual transmission.
This particular example was completed in January 1993 and finished in Spa Silver with a Smoke Grey interior, a combination widely used to highlight the car’s sculpted lines. Delivered new later that year, it was carefully maintained by its original owner, with servicing handled by specialists closely associated with Jaguar’s racing programs.
The car later returned to the United Kingdom, where it underwent extensive maintenance and restoration work by recognized experts. More recently, it received a comprehensive service that included major mechanical updates, ensuring continued performance and reliability.
