Factory Autodelta 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA, 1968 Daytona 24H Veteran, Heads to Market

A 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA with factory Autodelta provenance and documented participation in the 1968 24 Hours of Daytona is now being offered for private sale, representing one of the most historically significant examples of Alfa Romeo’s iconic lightweight racing coupes.

Chassis number AR 613760 was built by Alfa Romeo in July 1965 and initially delivered to the brand’s Senegalese importer. It was later entered by the official works team, Autodelta, in the 1968 Daytona 24-hour endurance race, where it finished sixth in class and 20th overall. Piloted by Autodelta regulars Teodoro Zeccoli, Leo Cella, and Gianpiero Biscaldi, the car competed against the era’s most formidable GT entries.

Following its tenure with the factory team, the GTA was acquired by famed Alfa tuner Franco Angelini. It retains a continuous Italian registration history and now presents in its original Daytona livery, supported by an extensive history file, FIA Historical Technical Passport (HTP), and Italian CSAI logbook.

A recent mechanical overhaul brought the car up to top-tier historic racing spec. The 2.0-liter twin-plug engine, now producing approximately 175 horsepower, has been rebuilt with J&E pistons, Carillo rods, and port-matched manifolds. A close-ratio gearbox, new competition clutch, and fully rebuilt driveline ensure period-correct performance with modern reliability.

Suspension and braking systems have been comprehensively upgraded with competition components, including Alfaholics uprights, dual-circuit brakes, and Bilstein and Koni shocks. Safety equipment includes a new FIA-compliant roll bar, racing harnesses, fuel cell, and fire suppression system.

The car remains eligible for premier historic events such as the Le Mans Classic, Goodwood Revival, and Tour Auto. It also includes a new “sliding block” rear suspension setup (Slittone), original GTA parts, and a magnesium bellhousing.

Fresh from a class win at the 2025 Moda Miami Concours, this GTA stands as a rare chance to own a documented Autodelta works car with race history at Daytona—a cornerstone of 1960s touring car competition.
