1966 Cadillac DeVille Convertible Offered Without Reserve at Raleigh Classic Auction

Rare Ember Firemist 1966 Cadillac DeVille Convertible with 52,955 miles crosses Raleigh Classic’s September Special sale without reserve.

Raleigh Classic Car Auctions will present a highly original 1966 Cadillac DeVille Convertible without reserve during its September Special event, offering collectors the chance to acquire a true mid-1960s luxury icon.

The DeVille name had only recently been elevated to a full series in 1965, replacing the long-running Series 62. By 1966, Cadillac’s flagship convertible embodied restrained elegance with stacked headlamps, subtle rear fins, and proportions stretched across a 224-inch length. Beneath the hood sat the brand’s 429-cubic-inch V8, rated at 340 horsepower and paired with a Hydramatic automatic transmission. Power steering, power brakes, and electric conveniences were standard equipment across the line, reinforcing Cadillac’s reputation as the “Standard of the World.”

This particular example, chassis F6153387, shows just 52,955 miles, believed to be original. Supporting documents, including previous title records and paint meter readings, indicate it retains its factory-correct Ember Firemist finish. The car also carries a highly optioned specification, featuring an eight-way power bench seat, factory air conditioning, power windows and locks, a power top, and Cadillac’s signal-seeking AM/FM radio. Inside, white leather upholstery provides contrast to the deep metallic exterior.

The convertible was purchased new at Black Cadillac-Olds in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and later became part of the Glenn Boyd Collection. The Boyd family’s ties to the automotive industry spanned decades, with Glenn Boyd himself curating a renowned private stable of rare, well-preserved American classics.

While the car presents in strong original condition, noted imperfections include a tear on the convertible top and light rock chips consistent with age. Even so, its originality, documented history, and attractive color combination make it a standout entry in Raleigh’s September Special, which features 38 estate vehicles offered entirely without reserve.

For collectors seeking a museum-quality Cadillac ready for shows or leisurely cruising, this DeVille offers both heritage and elegance in one package. See it here.
