Few cars say 1980s quite like a red Ferrari Testarossa, and few Testarossas are as appealing as an early, single-mirror example with a famous first owner. Broad Arrow Auctions is offering this 1985 Ferrari Testarossa "Monospecchio" as Lot 118 in its Global Icons: Zoute Online sale, which closes Wednesday, October 14, 2026, with an estimate of €135,000 to €165,000.

The car was delivered new in France in May 1985 through Charles Pozzi, Ferrari's official importer there, and it wears the classic combination of Rosso Corsa over black Nero leather. It is also a "Monodado" car, with the single center-lock wheel nut that Ferrari replaced with a five-lug arrangement in 1988, and the high-mounted single door mirror that gave the early cars their nickname.

A Glamorous First Owner

The first owner was Count Paul de Senneville, the composer and music producer who worked with French stars including Claude François, Michel Polnareff, and Dalida during the 1970s and 1980s. It is hard to imagine a more fitting original home for a car that defined the decade's sense of style.

In 2002 the Testarossa was acquired by the current owner's grandfather, and it has stayed in the same family for 24 years. That kind of long, quiet ownership is increasingly rare among 1980s Ferraris.

Early Testarossa Appeal

Unveiled at the 1984 Paris Motor Show as the successor to the 512 BBi, the Testarossa packed a flat-12 making 390 CV at 6,300 rpm and carried a claimed top speed of 290 km/h, which put it among the fastest production cars in the world at the time, just behind the Lamborghini Countach. It also became a huge commercial success for Maranello.

This example shows 84,983 km from new at cataloging, and it is accompanied by its original factory books, including the stamped service book, along with a file of invoices. Those invoices document more than €25,000 spent over the past six years with Paris-area Ferrari specialist Fiorano Racing. The timing belts were last replaced in November 2021 at 83,467 km, and the auction house notes they are due again, which is a worthwhile line item for the next owner to plan around.

Viewing and Bidding

The Testarossa can be viewed by appointment in Waregem, Belgium, from Monday, September 28 through Tuesday, October 6, and again from Monday, October 12 through Wednesday, October 14. The buyer's premium is 10 percent plus VAT on the hammer price, and the car comes with its French Certificat d'Immatriculation.

With early-production specification, one-family ownership for over two decades, and provenance tied to a French music legend, this Monospecchio is a standout way to own an icon of the era.
