A five-cabin, twin-diesel 2022 Bali 4.6 catamaran is up for auction on Bring a Trailer, and bidding sits at $100,000 with seven bids in and the clock running out on October 7. It is the kind of boat that listed north of $900,000 when the model reached North America, so the opening numbers are worth watching.

This one has a working past. The seller bought it new and ran it as a charter boat in Washington's San Juan Islands, which explains the layout: four heads, a separate crew berth and head, and a flybridge built for people who would rather not trim sails all day. It is listed in Bellingham with 925 hours on the twin 57-horsepower Yanmar diesels, which turn saildrives and Darglow feathering propellers.

What the Bali 4.6 Is

Bali is the Catana Group's more laid-back cruising line, and the 4.6 is the one that made the brand's "Catspace" thinking obvious. Cruising World's review noted a solid foredeck instead of trampolines, a garage-style opening that merges the saloon with the cockpit, and a flybridge helm with plenty of seating. The boat measures roughly 47 feet and carries about 1,700 square feet of sail. Cruising World clocked it around five knots in 10 to 12 knots of wind, so nobody is buying it for speed.

Equipment and Disclosures

The kit list reads like a boat meant to stay off the dock: a 1,400-watt solar array, Victron charge controllers, a 60-gallon-per-hour watermaker, an Onan generator, heating and air conditioning, and a Raymarine electronics suite with a 7-inch Axiom display. Two tenders come with it, along with spare parts and a Coast Guard Certificate of Documentation in the name of the seller's LLC.

The listing is also upfront about a mishap. The seller reports the boat grounded in August 2024, damaging the leading edge of the sacrificial starboard keel. It was repaired in fiberglass during a February 2025 haul-out with two internal baffles added, and the surveyor's report and repair photos are in the gallery. Buyers who have worked through our guide to reading an auction condition report will recognize the drill: read the disclosure, then read the paperwork behind it.

Where the Money Sits

Here is the catch for anyone used to checking prices before they bid. Hagerty's Valuation Tools track classic cars, trucks and motorcycles, not catamarans, so there is no price-guide number to hold this boat against. We lean on those tools all the time, as in our look at a DeLorean bidding well below Hagerty's price guide, but a late-model production cruiser lives in the broker market instead. The only real reference points are the roughly $920,000 base price Cruising World reported for a new boat and whatever comparable Bali 4.6 sales a broker can show you.

That gap is the story. A $100,000 bid on a boat that cost many times that new is an early number, not a verdict, and the reserve status is not stated on the page we reviewed. Bring a Trailer's real action tends to arrive in the final minutes, and our primer on reserve versus no-reserve auctions explains why a low bid this early proves little. Anyone planning to win should also run the numbers in our guide to auction fees and buyer's premiums, then add a marine survey, shipping from Washington and the cost of getting a catamaran this size anywhere.

BaT has been widening its reach lately, as when it expanded into the UK market, and a charter-spec catamaran is another sign the platform will list almost anything with an engine and a story. If you could park one boat next to your garage full of old metal, would you take a sailing cat or a classic runabout?
