Ultra-Rare Bugatti EB112 Sedan Heads to Auction in Monaco

An exceptionally rare Bugatti sedan from the 1990s is set to go under the hammer, offering collectors a chance to acquire one of the marque’s most unusual creations. The Bugatti EB112, a four-door luxury performance car that never reached full production, will be auctioned at RM Sotheby’s annual Monaco sale later this month.

The EB112 traces back to a short-lived but ambitious era in Bugatti’s history under Italian entrepreneur Romano Artioli, who revived the brand in the late 1980s. Operating from Italy, the company introduced the EB110 GT in 1991, but its launch coincided with a global economic downturn, limiting its success. Seeking to broaden the lineup, Bugatti unveiled the EB112 at the 1993 Geneva Motor Show as a high-performance luxury saloon. However, financial struggles led to the company’s bankruptcy in 1995 before the model could enter production.

Following the collapse, businessman Gildo Pallanca Pastor acquired Bugatti’s remaining assets, including unfinished EB112 components. He completed two examples, bringing the total number of finished cars to just three. The vehicle heading to auction is one of those completed cars and remained in Pastor’s ownership until 2015.

Styled by renowned designer Giorgetto Giugiaro of ItalDesign, the EB112 features elegant, flowing lines with design cues inspired by historic Bugatti models. Its exterior is finished in black with subtle chrome accents, while the interior offers seating for four, trimmed in black leather with understated branding.

Under the hood, the EB112 is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V-12 engine producing 450 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. Power is delivered to all four wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. Although less aggressive than the EB110 supercar, the sedan still delivers strong performance for its class.

This particular example shows just 241 miles and has undergone a full restoration earlier in the decade. With its rarity, historical significance, and condition, the EB112 is expected to command between $1.75 million and $2.3 million when it crosses the auction block on April 25 in Monaco.
