Owner Parts With His Beloved Dodge Viper After Three Years of Unexpected Thrills

When one car enthusiast bought a 2013 Dodge Viper GTS, it was supposed to be temporary—a one-year fling with raw American horsepower before returning to practicality. But plans changed the moment he fired up the V10. The sound alone turned a short-term escape into a three-year love affair.

He bought the car in April 2023 through a Cars & Bids auction, drawn to its Adrenaline Red paint and hand-stitched Black and Sepia Laguna leather interior. The fifth-generation Viper GTS represented the peak of the breed—modernized, but still defiantly analog. Beneath its long hood sat an 8.4-liter naturally aspirated V10 producing 640 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque.

This particular car, however, was far from stock. Its previous owner had gone all-in: ported and blueprinted cylinder heads, ceramic-coated Tri-Y headers, and a Corsa Performance exhaust system that deleted the catalytic converters entirely. A 3.91 rear differential sharpened acceleration, while ACR-X front brakes, upgraded sway bar mounts, and billet aluminum steering rack bushings tightened control. The Toyo R888R tires left no question about intent.

Over three years, the current owner added about 3,100 miles—each one, he says, “an excuse to smile.” The Viper was meticulously maintained, from oil changes to brake fluid flushes to a new body control module. It wasn’t perfect, but it was honest. There were a few scrapes underneath, light wear inside, and even a faint suspension rattle noted by a Lemon Squad inspection—issues he disclosed openly in his new listing.

Now, with life moving on, he’s decided to pass it along. The car comes with its original parts, service records, two keys, and a sense of history only a machine like this can carry.
