Lexus is preparing to shut down production of the LC 500 and LC 500 Convertible, bringing an early end to what was once positioned as a halo car for the brand. The decision surfaced after a dealer communication circulated online, outlining that both versions have entered their final production cycle, expected to conclude by the end of August 2026.
The LC 500 first appeared publicly at the Detroit Auto Show in early 2016, following a concept revealed at the same venue four years earlier. Production began in 2017 for the 2018 model year, giving Lexus a dramatic, V8-powered grand tourer aimed at reshaping its performance image. Despite the attention, the model struggled to gain long-term traction.
