DragonSpeed Switches to Corvette Z06 GT3.R for 2026 IMSA Season With Evel Knievel-Inspired Livery

DragonSpeed is preparing for a major shift in its IMSA program, trading its Ferrari entry for a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R as it moves into the GTD class for the 2026 season. The Florida-based team made the decision following a strong 2025 campaign that included a runner-up finish in the GTD Pro standings. Now, the group will compete in the pro-am category that requires each lineup to include at least one FIA silver- or bronze-rated driver.

The team’s new driver roster will consist of Giacomo Altoe, Casper Stevenson and Henrik Hedman, covering both the professional and amateur requirements of the class. DragonSpeed plans to work closely with Corvette Racing throughout the season as it adapts to the new car and new ruleset. The Z06 GT3.R is expected to give the team a competitive foundation in a field known for deep talent and tight margins.

One of the early highlights of the switch is the Corvette’s livery, which pays tribute to an American icon. The design draws clear inspiration from the colors and patterns famously worn by stunt performer Evel Knievel, featuring white bodywork accented by red-edged blue stripes filled with stars. The look stands out even within the often flamboyant world of sports car racing and signals the team’s desire to make a memorable entrance into the class.

The 2026 IMSA calendar opens at Daytona International Speedway with the Roar Before the 24 from Jan. 16–18, followed by the Rolex 24 at Daytona on Jan. 24–25. DragonSpeed’s debut in the GTD category will begin on one of the sport’s biggest stages, giving the team an early test of its new partnership with Corvette and its updated lineup.

With a fresh car, a new class and a livery steeped in Americana, DragonSpeed enters the 2026 season aiming to build on recent success while taking on one of IMSA’s most competitive divisions.
