California Businessman Builds $100 Million Ferrari Collection Organized by “Ketchup, Mustard, and Relish” Colors

In the rolling hills of Walnut, California, one of the world’s most extraordinary private Ferrari collections sits quietly behind closed doors. It doesn’t belong to a royal or an oil magnate, but to David SK Lee, a California businessman whose creative approach to car collecting has earned global attention — and more than a little envy from Ferrari fans.

Lee, a luxury watch entrepreneur and lifelong car enthusiast, has amassed a fleet of Ferraris reportedly worth over $100 million. But unlike most collectors who organize by era or model type, Lee sorts his cars by color — red, yellow, and green — nicknaming them the “ketchup,” “mustard,” and “relish” collections.

Each color represents a complete theme of Ferrari’s greatest hits. The “ketchup” lineup includes iconic Rosso Corsa red examples of the brand’s five halo cars: the 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, and LaFerrari. The “mustard” garage mirrors that same lineup in Giallo Modena yellow, creating a striking visual symmetry that few collectors could ever achieve.

The “relish” collection takes things further, featuring rare custom-built Ferraris in unique shades of green — among them, a Tailor Made 812 Competizione Aperta and an SF90 XX Aperta. Together, they tell the story of Ferrari’s evolution from analog performance to hybrid hypercar mastery.

Lee’s passion for the brand hasn’t always been without friction. When Ferrari launched the LaFerrari Aperta in 2016, he was famously denied the opportunity to buy one directly from the factory — a move widely interpreted as punishment for being too public about his collection. Undeterred, Lee later acquired one privately, completing his long-sought “ketchup” set.

For Lee, the color-coded concept isn’t just clever branding — it’s a personal expression of joy and creativity. His collection blends history, artistry, and personality in equal measure, proving that passion, not pedigree, defines the world’s most fascinating car collections.
