Chevrolet’s new 2025 Corvette ZR1 is already making waves before reaching showrooms. In a recent ImportRace video filmed at Pocono Raceway, the twin-turbocharged American supercar went head-to-head with a McLaren 750S — and the result left little room for debate about performance.
The matchup took place during RaceMotive’s roll racing event at the famed 2.5-mile tri-oval track. While the venue is best known for NASCAR and IndyCar competition, it’s also become a proving ground for real-world high-speed contests between elite performance cars.
The featured ZR1, finished in black with crimson brake calipers, squared off against a striking orange-and-black McLaren 750S. Despite a price difference of nearly $200,000 — with the ZR1 expected to start around $183,400 compared to the McLaren’s $365,000 base price — the Chevrolet proved dominant.
Starting from a 65-mph roll, the Corvette’s 1,064-horsepower twin-turbo V8 propelled it to a blistering 171.58 mph trap speed, while the McLaren managed just 158.1 mph. Even though the McLaren launched with a slightly higher initial speed, the ZR1’s raw acceleration left the British supercar behind before crossing the line.
This wasn’t the only wild matchup at the event. Earlier in the day, a heavily modified 2025 Ford F-150 XL shocked spectators by keeping pace with a different ZR1 before being overtaken at 169 mph — evidence of just how quick Chevrolet’s latest flagship has become.
The victory over McLaren underscores what many have speculated since Chevrolet revealed the car: the ZR1 may be one of the most capable production cars ever built by an American manufacturer.
With over 1,000 horsepower, a twin-turbo V8, and supercar-slaying credentials, the 2025 Corvette ZR1 looks ready to challenge — and beat — Europe’s best on their own turf.
