Early-production black Viper RT/10 with under 12,000 miles and three-owner history hits the market in near-original condition.
A well-preserved 1994 Dodge Viper RT/10, showing just 11,977 original miles, has surfaced for sale on Hagerty Marketplace, offering collectors a rare opportunity to own one of America’s most raw and visceral performance cars of the 1990s.

Finished in striking Viper Black (X3) over a gray leather interior, this RT/10 represents the earliest iteration of the Viper — a machine born from a collaboration between Chrysler leadership, Design Chief Tom Gale, and motorsports icon Carroll Shelby. The concept, first unveiled at the 1989 Detroit Auto Show, was intended as a spiritual successor to the Shelby Cobra: light, fast, and brutally simple.
Built around a tubular space frame with a center spine and lightweight composite panels, the 1994 model retains all of the Viper’s uncompromising elements. Notably devoid of exterior door handles, side windows, or a traditional roof, the car’s emphasis is on performance — not creature comforts. Side-exit exhausts and a wide, low stance give it a menacing silhouette even at a standstill.

Under the hood lies a truck-derived 8.0-liter V10 reengineered by Lamborghini to feature aluminum heads and block, producing 400 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. With 0–60 mph times under five seconds, it was a legitimate American supercar by early ‘90s standards.
This particular example has remained in Michigan since new, with ownership documented by a clean CARFAX. The current owner acquired the car in 2020 and reports only minor cosmetic blemishes — including swirl marks, paint scrapes near the hood seam, and light door sill wear.

Additional equipment includes Michelin Pilot Sport tires, the original Chrysler AM/FM/cassette stereo, a temporary spare, jack, key fob, and battery charger. Despite a handful of wear marks, the car remains remarkably original and unmodified.

With its three-owner history, low mileage, and classic color combo, this RT/10 offers a throwback to a time when performance came with thunderous sound, no traction control, and plenty of attitude — the way Carroll Shelby would have wanted it.
