The 1973 DeVille got new energy absorbing bumpers that brought styling refinements. Grilles were widened and had an intricate eggcrate design. Larger vertical rectangles housed the parking lamps between wide spaced headlamps. The rear end had a bumper with a flatter upper section housing an angled license plate recess. Bright body underscores with rear extensions distinguished the DeVille externally from others in the Cadillac fleet. There were also DeVille signatures on the rear roof pillar.
This would be the final year for hardtop Coupe DeVilles, which is ironic being that's what made it an instant success in 1949.
Power output remained the same and production was up again, setting a new record for itself.
