Taillights from a '65 Thunderbird were used, and the front fenders and hood were fiberglass with two 7-inch headlights mounted to the front. The usual stipes were found and Cobra emblems.
The interior of the Shelby was once again the production Mustang's Deluxe Interior Decor Group, available in either black or white.
The GT350 came with the 290 hp version of the production 351 Windsor. The only difference being an aluminum intake manifold. The GT500 used the 428CJ-R.
Around 789 1969 Shelbys went unsold, so they were updated with new VINs, twin black hood stripes, and a Boss 302 type chin spoiler for the 1970 year.
