With the new 429ci engine, performance gains were more noticed in the lower range - 20 to 50 mph. Power was increased to 340 hp, but came on much later in the rpm range. What customers were feeling in the lower mph range was the much improved 480 lb-ft of torque!

The new Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission was introduced.

The Park Avenue sedan was discontinued most likely due to very low sales. The model was replaced with a new DeVille 2-dr convertible.

The lineup change, increased output, and new styling all helped increase sales this year.
