A new grille with a finer textured insert was installed that included repositioned parking lights in the bumper below the wing guards. The DeVille had a model nameplate and Cadillac crest on the sides of the front fenders.

Power output was increased yet again, although this time due to a stroke of an even 4-inches to deliver 285 hp.

A $35M development by GM made the 1956 Hydra-Matic the largest and best shifting of their automatic tranmsissions, yet.

The Sedan DeVille cannibalized approx. 8K of the Coupes, but still increased overall production of the DeVille to over 67,000.
