ABT’s 840-hp Urus Scatenato leaves Ferrari’s V12 Purosangue in the dust during straight-line shootout in Germany.
A high-stakes faceoff between two of Italy’s fiercest high-performance SUVs ended in a landslide victory for Lamborghini — though not in stock form. In a series of drag races at the Mindelheim-Mattsies Airfield, a heavily tuned Lamborghini Urus Performante known as the ABT Urus Scatenato proved significantly quicker than Ferrari’s V12-powered Purosangue.
German YouTuber and former Formula E driver Daniel Abt, along with fellow racer Joerg Kintzel, staged the showdown to answer a simple question: can Ferrari’s naturally aspirated horsepower stand up to boosted brutality? The answer, as it turns out, is a resounding no.
While the factory Purosangue boasts an exotic 6.5-liter V12 producing 715 horsepower and a soundtrack that’s pure Maranello, it was no match for ABT Sportsline’s 829-hp Scatenato — a limited-production Urus tuned to push the boundaries of what’s possible in a luxury SUV.
The Lamborghini scorched the quarter-mile in just 10.60 seconds, hitting 100 kph (62 mph) in 3.47 seconds. The Ferrari, despite its raw power and rev-happy engine, managed a best of 12.13 seconds and a slower 4.20-second sprint to 100 kph. The difference in the 700-meter dash? A full 1.2 seconds — with the Urus once again outpacing the Purosangue.
Weight didn’t play in the Lambo’s favor. At 4,740 pounds, it’s heavier than the Purosangue by more than 250 pounds, but its turbocharged torque advantage — 738 lb-ft versus Ferrari’s 528 — more than made up the difference.
While the Purosangue is Ferrari’s first foray into the SUV market and is lauded for its dynamics, the Urus Scatenato makes it clear that forced induction, tuning wizardry, and raw numbers still win in a straight line.
With Lamborghini prepping a next-gen Urus hybrid and Ferrari rumored to electrify the Purosangue lineup, the battle between these two super SUVs is far from over.
