Polestar has confirmed a new concept car called Formula 2030, giving an early look at the design direction the Swedish electric performance brand plans to follow as part of a broader push toward profitability by decade's end.
Rather than debuting on a show stand, the concept was first shown behind closed doors at The Cube, Polestar's Gothenburg headquarters, during a strategy event for investors, retailers, and a select group of VIP customers. A full global reveal is planned later this year, timed to the media campaign surrounding the Polestar 4 SUV.
Design chief Philipp Romers framed the project as a refinement rather than a departure. He said the brand needed a bold evolution "not revolution of what came before," while keeping signature cues like the Dual Blade headlights intact.
Polestar says Formula 2030 previews styling elements that will carry over to the next-generation Polestar 2, due in 2027, and the upcoming Polestar 7 compact SUV, both expected to lean further into the brand's performance identity alongside its usual sustainability and technology focus.
The reveal comes as Polestar keeps expanding its lineup, which already includes the Polestar 2, Polestar 3, Polestar 4 coupe, Polestar 4 SUV, and the recently launched Polestar 5 grand tourer. A Polestar 6 roadster is also in the pipeline, and the brand plans to add European production for the Polestar 7 alongside its existing North American and Asian manufacturing.
Polestar has been raising its profile at European events in recent months as well, including an appearance at Salon Prive, where it showed cars alongside marques like Lamborghini and Brabus at Blenheim Palace.
The automaker has also set sustainability targets tied to the same 2030 horizon, aiming to halve greenhouse gas emissions per vehicle sold and reach climate neutrality across its value chain by 2040.
