This 550-HP HEMI Restomod 1970 Dodge Challenger Is A Hugger Orange Knockout

When the original ponycar wars kicked off, the 1970 Dodge Challenger arrived fashionably late but impossibly cool, and this Hugger Orange restomod proves the shape still stops traffic more than half a century later. Built by Mobley Performance in League City, Texas, and currently listed on eBay, this E-body trades its vintage drivetrain for modern Gen III HEMI muscle while keeping all of the long-hood, short-deck attitude that made the breed famous. If you love this kind of resurrected Mopar metal, you are in good company on Motorious.

Modern Muscle Under A Classic Hood

The headline change is what lives between the fenders. Mobley Performance dropped in a 392-cubic-inch 6.4-liter Gen III HEMI crate motor rated at 550 horsepower, backed by a Mopar Performance wiring harness so the modern V8 plays nicely with the rest of the car. Power runs through a Silversport A41 four-speed automatic, and the soundtrack comes courtesy of Mancini Racing headers feeding a 2.5-inch custom dual exhaust. With roughly 100 miles on the completed build, this is essentially a brand-new old car.

A Chassis Built To Actually Drive

Where so many vintage muscle cars still ride on technology from the Nixon era, this Challenger keeps its original 1970 body but rolls on a full RMS suspension swap. Up front there is an AlterKtion Hellcat setup with power steering and Ride Tech 4.1 shocks, while the rear gets an RMS four-link with Ride Tech 5.2 coil-overs, a Moser Positraction center section with 3.5 gears, and a beefy Ford 9-inch housing. Wilwood handles the stopping with a 9-inch chrome booster, six-piston calipers, and vented Dynalite discs, and Foose billet wheels wrapped in staggered Michelin rubber put it all to the pavement.

Comfort Meets Hot Rod Attitude Inside

The cabin leans just as hard into the restomod theme. A custom Black and Orange ultraleather interior by 5-Star Upholstery ties into the Hugger Orange paint, while a carbon-fiber dash houses Auto Meter digital gauges. Vintage Air keeps things cool, a JVC head unit handles the tunes, and a Grant steering wheel sits front and center. It is the kind of build sheet that lets you cruise comfortably on a hot afternoon and still grin every time the HEMI clears its throat.

What It Costs

The seller, Mobley Performance of League City, Texas, has the Challenger listed at $139,900 with a Best Offer option, and the build photos show it documented from bare body through completion. For a turnkey HEMI restomod with a clean title, modern brakes and suspension, and a finished custom interior, it lands right in the heart of today's pro-touring Mopar market. If a Hugger Orange E-body with 550 horsepower has been on your bucket list, this one is ready to enjoy right now.
