One of the last HEMI-powered Ram 1500 TRXs has been reimagined into a 1,000-horsepower powerhouse, courtesy of a Texas tuning shop that turned the outgoing supertruck into something truly outrageous. Based on the 2023 Ram 1500 TRX Lunar Edition, this build represents both a farewell to the HEMI era and a showcase of just how far modern tuning can go.
When Stellantis announced the retirement of its 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8, it marked the end of one of the most audacious engines ever installed in a production pickup. The TRX, already boasting 702 horsepower in stock form, was designed to be excessive. But for Houston-based Late Model Racecraft, “excessive” was only the starting point.
Owner Javier turned to the performance specialists at LMR for their 1000+ package, which pushes the TRX’s limits in both power and refinement. The modifications start with a ported factory supercharger from Kong Performance, paired with a larger throttle body, smaller pulley setup, and revised lower balancer to increase boost. The engine’s crankshaft was pinned for durability, while upgraded injectors and a high-flow fuel system ensure consistent delivery under extreme demand.
Tuned for both 93-octane and E85 fuel, the truck produces 809 rear-wheel horsepower on pump gas and an incredible 927 at the wheels on E85—figures that translate to roughly 1,000 horsepower at the crank. Despite its 6,000-pound curb weight, it’s estimated to run the quarter mile in the mid-10-second range, rivaling modern supercars.
A video from Late Model Racecraft captured the raw experience when an unsuspecting bystander took a ride in the tuned TRX, reacting with a mix of disbelief and exhilaration. For enthusiasts mourning the end of the HEMI, this build serves as a reminder: the spirit of raw, unfiltered power isn’t gone—it’s just evolved into something even wilder.
