Stolen-and-Recovered Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye Heads to Auction With Dust, Damage and 797 Horsepower

A 2023 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody with a short but turbulent past is preparing for auction after resurfacing in heavily neglected condition. The car, found sitting in an IAAI lot in San Antonio, shows clear signs of having been stolen and later recovered, though the details of its disappearance remain unknown.

What is known is that the once-formidable muscle sedan now wears a thick layer of dust and shows interior damage consistent with a rough encounter. Photos reveal a missing infotainment system and incomplete dashboard trim, leaving a gaping opening where the center stack once sat. The listing also notes rear damage, though it is not visible in the available images. Even so, the car appears structurally sound at first glance, with its body panels and paint largely intact beneath the grime.

Despite its current state, the odometer reads just over 9,000 miles, suggesting it was barely broken in before its misadventure. More importantly for prospective buyers, the car still runs and drives, meaning the heart of the Hellcat Redeye — its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 — survived. That engine remains one of the most powerful ever fitted to a production sedan, producing 797 horsepower and 707 pound-feet of torque without modification.

Performance numbers from the factory leave little doubt about its capability. The Charger Redeye can reach 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, a figure once associated with high-end exotics like the Ferrari Enzo. It completes the quarter mile in about 10 seconds, with Dodge’s parent company citing an official 10.6-second pass at 129 mph.

The auction listing estimates the value of a pristine example at roughly $90,000, though this particular car will land far below that figure due to its missing interior components and unknown history. Still, for the right buyer, the Charger offers a rare opportunity: a salvageable Hellcat Redeye that retains its defining features — widebody stance, massive power and unmistakable character.

When it finally crosses the block, bidders will have to decide how much they’re willing to pay for a muscle car that has clearly lived hard but still carries the heartbeat that made it famous.
