Rolls-Royce has unveiled a highly exclusive series of five Black Badge Cullinan models created in collaboration with French artist Cyril Kongo, transforming the luxury SUV into a rolling art installation through one of the brand’s most ambitious bespoke projects to date.
The limited-production collection blends Rolls-Royce craftsmanship with Kongo’s distinctive artistic style, resulting in interiors inspired by what the artist describes as the “Kongoverse” — a visual world filled with fantasy, mathematical formulas, atoms, symbols, pyramids, and imagined planets. Each of the five vehicles has been individually designed, ensuring no two examples are identical.
Kongo, known internationally for his graffiti art and collaborations across fashion, aviation, and contemporary design, worked closely with Rolls-Royce artisans throughout the development process. The partnership marked an unusually hands-on creative approach for the automaker, with the artist spending months inside Rolls-Royce’s Goodwood headquarters alongside the company’s craftspeople and design specialists.
The interiors of the Black Badge Cullinan models were transformed into immersive visual environments. Artwork extends across nearly every surface inside the cabin, including the Starlight Headliner, rear seating areas, trim pieces, and upholstery details. The visual theme combines celestial imagery with symbolic graphics and abstract forms, creating a highly personalized atmosphere intended to emphasize imagination and individuality.
Rolls-Royce said more than 70 paint colors were prepared during the development process to give Kongo complete freedom in executing his artistic vision. Across the five vehicles, artisans hand-painted a total of 1,344 stars as part of the intricate interior detailing.
The collaboration also pushed Rolls-Royce’s bespoke division into new creative territory. Dedicated workspaces were established within the company’s facilities so Kongo and Rolls-Royce specialists could work side-by-side during production. The project evolved through constant experimentation and direct collaboration, allowing artistic ideas to be integrated into the vehicles in real time rather than applied as decorative afterthoughts.
The result is a collection of Cullinans that merges luxury automotive craftsmanship with contemporary art in a way rarely seen in the automotive world. Kongo’s signature appears embroidered into the leather sun visor and luggage compartment lining as a final personalized detail.
The release continues Rolls-Royce’s long-standing connection to bespoke commissions and artistic expression, though the scale and depth of this collaboration distinguish it from previous projects. By allowing an artist to influence virtually every interior element, the company created vehicles that function as both luxury SUVs and collectible works of art.
All five Black Badge Cullinan commissions have been allocated to collectors worldwide, making the series one of the rarest bespoke Rolls-Royce projects in recent years.
