Revology Revives the Rare Boss 429 With 710-Horsepower Modern Tribute

Ford’s Total Performance push of the 1960s produced some of the brand’s most memorable competition machines, including several homologation specials built to secure motorsport dominance. Among them, few models carry the mystique of the Boss 429 Mustang. Created to meet NASCAR engine requirements, production was limited to a short two-year run, with just 859 units built for 1969 and roughly 1,300 total including 1970. That scarcity helped elevate the Boss 429 to legendary status among collectors.

A modern revival of the car is now arriving courtesy of Revology, the Florida company known for building contemporary interpretations of 1960s pony cars. Rather than producing a traditional restomod, the shop constructs its tributes from the ground up using new steel bodies. These shells are assembled with automated spot welds, seam-welded joints and structural adhesives, resulting in a significantly more rigid platform than the original Mustang.

This structural upgrade opens the door for substantial performance increases. In place of the original 7.0-liter big block, the Revology version uses a supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8 producing 710 horsepower, nearly double the advertised output of the factory Boss 429. The resulting performance eclipses the already-quick acceleration of the classic model, which was capable of mid-five-second sprints to 60 mph in period.

To support that level of power, Revology equips the car with a double-wishbone front suspension and aluminum subframe, paired with a three-link rear setup featuring a torque arm and Panhard rod. The company also adds modern hydraulic rack-and-pinion steering and power four-wheel disc brakes, along with specially tuned springs and dampers.

The build incorporates contemporary electronics through a CAN bus architecture, allowing features such as power windows, power mirrors and integrated sensors to function with factory-like smoothness. Finished in Porsche Lava Orange with white leather upholstery and riding on Magnum 500-style wheels, the car balances vintage looks with modern refinement.

Pricing starts at $395,000, positioning the tribute close to the market average for an original Boss 429. With restoration costs often factored into classic ownership, Revology’s approach offers the appeal of modern reliability in a historically inspired package. Demand reflects that value, as more than half of the 50 planned units are already spoken for heading into 2026.
