Recently Serviced 1990 Ferrari Mondial t Coupe Draws Attention Ahead of Auction Close

A 1990 Ferrari Mondial t Coupe with recent mechanical investment and documented service history has surfaced on the auction market, offering bidders a well-maintained example of Ferrari’s final evolution of the Mondial line. The car, currently listed by an import specialty dealer in Christiansburg, Virginia, has accumulated 50,872 kilometers, or about 31,600 miles, and has drawn steady attention as it moves toward its scheduled closing date.

Originally delivered to the Italian market, as identified by its VIN prefix, the Mondial t represents a major redesign within the model family. Introduced for 1990, the “t” designation signaled Ferrari’s shift from a transverse to a longitudinal orientation for the 3.4-liter DOHC V8, the same powerplant shared with the 348. The transmission remained transverse, forming the characteristic layout that lowered the engine by several inches and improved the car’s center of gravity. Period performance placed the Mondial t in quick territory for a 2+2, with acceleration to 60 mph in roughly six seconds.

This particular example has undergone significant recent service. In February 2024, the car received a rebuilt five-speed manual gearbox, along with fresh brake pads, lines, and fluid. Additional work included a rear main seal replacement, fuel line updates, and repairs to a brake light issue. The technician also noted that the original electronic suspension dampers had been replaced earlier in its life with conventional units, a revision expected to offer improved reliability.

Mechanical updates extend to the engine management system, as this Mondial t is equipped with an aftermarket MoTeC ECU in place of its factory unit, a modification said to enhance power delivery and responsiveness. Replacement crankshaft sensors accompany the upgrade. The vehicle has also been repainted, though no date is provided, and the seller reports no signs of accident damage. Interior photos show minimal wear to the black leather upholstery.

Among its working features, the power sunroof functions as intended, and the car rides on original 17-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires dated 2018 and 2019. The rear seats fold to increase luggage space, complementing the Mondial’s role as a more practical mid-engine Ferrari.

Some systems will require attention. The air conditioning is currently inoperative, and the power door locks are not functioning. A console-mounted cigarette lighter is also missing.

The seller is offering a six-month, 6,000-mile powertrain warranty and notes that the vehicle has passed a North Carolina emissions inspection. A clean Tennessee title will be provided for transfer.

With a current bid of $20,000 and the reserve not yet met, the Mondial t presents bidders with a serviced, documented, and largely original example of a model that continues to earn renewed appreciation among Ferrari enthusiasts.
