A 2005 Ford GT that was once written off as unsalvageable has made an astonishing comeback. The team behind the YouTube channel throtl took on the challenge of resurrecting the destroyed supercar, and after years of meticulous work, their creation was unveiled at the SEMA Show.
The car had suffered major damage after an accident left it beyond repair in the eyes of insurers. Rather than scrapping it, the throtl crew set out to rebuild it from the ground up—mechanically, structurally, and aesthetically. After extensive restoration of the drivetrain and supporting systems, the mid-mounted supercharged 5.4-liter V8 roared back to life for the first time in nearly two decades.

The project evolved into far more than a simple restoration. The team fitted the car with a Doran GT2 carbon fiber body kit, transforming the GT’s already iconic shape into something more aggressive and modern. Custom three-piece HRE forged wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires provide serious grip, while Fortune Auto coilovers and a Wilwood big brake setup ensure the car performs as well as it looks.
Inside, the cabin received Sparco SPX seats, Speedhut gauges, and subtle refinements to match the car’s performance focus. A CSF cooling system and Vibrant Titanium exhaust were added for improved efficiency and sound. To complete the build, the car was sent to SD Design House for a striking yellow-and-blue livery inspired by sponsor WD-40—adding a motorsport-ready look that complements its carbon-fiber foundation.
With ultrabright headlights, billet vents, and a functional rear spoiler, the reborn Ford GT stands as proof that even the most tragic wrecks can find new life. What began as a totaled supercar has become a show-stopping tribute to craftsmanship, persistence, and passion for performance.
