Ram’s TRX is set to return in 2026 with its Hellcat V8, possibly more powerful than ever before.
The king of high-performance pickups is preparing for a comeback. Ram will resurrect the 1500 TRX in early 2026, marking the return of its legendary supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 after a brief hiatus.
Production of the new TRX is expected to begin in January 2026, according to industry sources cited by Mopar Insiders. The launch will also be significant for another reason: it will reportedly be the first new model released under the revived SRT (Street and Racing Technology) division, signaling a renewed focus on performance across Stellantis’ brands.
The TRX was retired after 2024 when the lifecycle of its Hemi V8 ended, leaving Ram’s performance truck lineup with only the 1500 RHO—a capable off-roader powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter straight-six producing 403kW and 707Nm. But those numbers fall short of the outgoing TRX’s 523kW and 882Nm, leaving die-hard fans craving the Hellcat-powered beast.
Ram’s recent announcement that it would reintroduce the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 for U.S. buyers paved the way for the TRX’s revival. Insiders now suggest that the 2026 model could be even stronger than its predecessor, aiming to reclaim the title of the world’s most powerful production pickup—a title it lost to Ford’s F-150 Raptor R, which produces 537kW and 868Nm from its 5.2-liter supercharged V8.
The timing of the TRX’s return aligns with Ram’s planned re-entry into NASCAR’s Truck Series in early 2026, its first manufacturer-backed effort in the series since 2012. This motorsport connection is expected to bolster the truck’s performance credentials.
While U.S. customers eagerly await its arrival, the TRX’s return to markets like Australia remains uncertain. Ram Trucks Australia has confirmed that the Hemi V8’s comeback is limited to the American market for now, with no plans to expand beyond its existing six-cylinder “Hurricane” lineup.
