YouTube builders create a Bugatti-inspired “Volgatti” from a Volga, Mitsubishi, and BMW, revealing a $107,000 three-year investment.
A group of YouTube mechanics has revealed the true cost behind a one-of-a-kind Bugatti-inspired creation built from three donor vehicles.
The team behind the channel Axes: Garage spent three years crafting what they call the “Volgatti,” a mashup that merges the body of a 1950s Volga with parts from a BMW 6 Series and a Mitsubishi Eclipse. The result is a striking reimagining of a vintage sedan that now carries the lines of a modern Bugatti.
According to the builders, the project consumed more than money—it required a complete redesign of the Volga’s bodywork, extensive fabrication, and custom engineering to bring the ambitious vision to life. Once completed, the team sat down to calculate the bottom line.
Their figures show the Volgatti cost approximately $107,000 in total. The largest single expense was labor, which came to about $38,000. New parts and materials added another $32,000, while performance upgrades accounted for $18,000. The donor vehicles themselves—a trio of used cars sourced from scrapyards—cost $11,000 combined.
For comparison, a real Bugatti remains far out of reach for most enthusiasts. Even an entry-level Veyron originally commanded around $1.9 million, while rare used examples still fetch seven-figure sums. That price gap makes the Volgatti an intriguing, if unconventional, alternative for builders unwilling to settle for replicas or kits.
The mechanics acknowledge the car is still a work in progress, though the finished product has already been showcased on the road. For Axes: Garage, the project has become less about competing with the Molsheim-built originals and more about proving what resourceful engineering and determination can achieve.
In their words, the Volgatti is not just a car but a statement—an unconventional tribute to one of the world’s most exclusive automotive brands.
